Local Government Act of Japan started 60 years ago and JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM has been started in commemoration. There are 47 prefectures in Japan. The silver coin whose face value is 1,000yen and the bi-color clad coin whose face value is 500yen, are to be published one by one as memorial coins.

 This is 500 yen coin of TOYAMA Prefecture. TOYAMA prefecture is located in the middle of HONSHU Island JAPAN and faces Japan sea. The design on the obverse side is OHARA-KAZE-NO-BON dancers.

  OHARA-KAZE-NO-BON is a festival of YAO area in TOYAMA city and held during Sep. 1st - 3rd every year. Female dancers wear YUKATA-kimono dress and Amigasa hat and male dancers wear happi jacket and amigasa hat. They perform elegant and valiant dance to Echu-Ohara-bushi music.
