Product description

Thank you for watching my item.

Local Government Act of Japan started 60 years ago and JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM has been started in commemoration. There are 47 prefectures in Japan. The silver coin whose face value is 1,000yen and the bi-color clad coin whose face value is 500yen, are to be published one by one as memorial coins to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Local Autonomy Law Enforcement.

This is 500yen bare coin of KOCHI Prefecture. KOCHI prefecture is located in SHIKOKU Island Japan and faces the Pacific Ocean. The design on the obverse side is the portrait of RYOMA SAKAMOTO.
RYOMA SAKAMOTO(1836-1867) is one of heros during the end of EDO era and played very important role. He was born in TOSA (current KOCHI prefecture) . He lead MEIJI-ISHIN revolution by making the normalization of relations between SATUMA and CHOSHU HAN which were dominant subnational governments in EDO-era and making important policies and conducted them. Unfortunately he was assassinated just before MEIJI-ISHIN revolution.
